About
“Jumpstarting innovative library services through the creative use of new technologies and effective instruction from a user-focused perspective”
I am passionate about helping libraries stay relevant and vital in this digital age. Through the creative use of new technologies and the support of effective information literacy instruction, I want the library to become a physical and virtual destination that excites and inspires users of all kinds. I believe in focusing on the user–their needs, behavior, and experience–to create the best possible learning environment in the library.
One of the main reasons I joined the profession is because I love learning about all kinds of topics. The library is the ultimate learning space that begs to be explored. Everyday, my curiosity leads me down new paths and I know I can always find answers to my questions at the library. Here are some recent topics that have captured my interests lately:
- sewing techniques
- graphic design and web design
- running
- learning Microsoft Excel tricks
- gardening
As a library professional, I specialize in helping people explore their own unique interests. Often I try to connect them with new and exciting ways to access information through technology and social networks. I enjoy exploring Web 2.0 and 3.0 applications and technologies that connect us to the enormous amount of data, information, and knowledge in the world.
On a more personal level, I love to read (surprise!), play guitar, volunteer, knit, sew, and cook. See my Goodreads profile to check out what I’ve been reading lately.
